Dr. Melissa Giannamore completed her undergraduate degree at The Ohio State University and received her doctorate degree from The Ohio State University College of  Optometry. Further education includes completing the Southern Diplomat Program in Retinal Disease. She has spent 19 years learning, training and applying her skills while gaining experience in private practice as well as working with some of the leading Lasik and Cataract surgeons in the country.

Dr. Giannamore also served as Advisory Board Member of TLC Laser Eye Centers of Atlanta and was CEO of Atlanta Cosmetic and Laser Eye Center, and is a member of the American Optometric Association, and the Georgia Optometric Association.

Dr. Melissa Giannamore is one of the first optometrists in the country to obtain an ABO Board Certification. The American Board of Optometry’s process of board certification and maintenance of certification demonstrates to patients that the optometrist is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care through a rigorous, voluntary commitment to lifelong learning. Board certified optometrists will be able to demonstrate their competence beyond entry level. With 40,000 optometrists in the US and Canada, approximately 400 are board certified with only 26 in the state of Georgia.

Dr. Stephen M. John is a native of Illinois and was raised in Augusta, GA during his teenage years. For his undergraduate education he attended the University of Houston with an academic scholarship and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, which included clinical externships at the Birmingham VA Medical Center in Alabama, The Marietta Eye Clinic in Marietta, GA and the North Shore Eye Center in Evanston, IL. His training included primary care, pediatrics, contact lenses, pre and post-operative patient care for procedures such as cataract surgery and LASIK, trauma management, and ocular disease, including diabetes and glaucoma patient education.

After receiving his doctorate, Dr. John completed a residency affiliated with The Ohio State University in ocular disease at the Chalmers P. Wylie VA Ambulatory Care Center in Columbus, OH and the Chillicothe VA Medical Center in Chillicothe, OH. As a part of his residency he served as a clinical instructor at The Ohio State University College of Optometry.

Dr. John’s professional affiliations include the American Optometric Association (AOA), Georgia Optometric Association (GOA), the Cornea and Contact Lens Section of the AOA, the Sports Vision Section of the AOA, and InfantSEE.
