Subtle changes in your vision could cause headaches, eye strain, or mean there are underlying factors that could be serious. Some eye diseases present no symptoms at all until the damage has already been done. Early detection and treatment of these diseases may prevent more damage from occurring and protect your eyesight from deteriorating. A yearly eye exam is very important, so you and your family can enjoy healthy sight and healthy eyes.
Your comprehensive eye exam at East Cobb Eye Center will include:
- Visual acuity tests and refraction to measure your vision and any visual defects
- Screenings for color and peripheral vision
- Evaluation of the eye’s exterior, such as the cornea and eye lids
- Dilation, as necessary, to help view the internal structures of the eye
- Health history and assessment of any physical conditions and prescription medications that may affect your eyesight
- Eye muscle and motility tests
- Binocular vision assessment
- Applanation tonometry to detect glaucoma
Other tests may include:
- Visual field test to measure peripheral vision and detect diseases of the eyes or neurological disorders
- Color vision screening for color perception and neurologic evaluation
- Stereopsis or depth perception evaluation
- Gonioscopy or anterior segment evaluation
- Corneal Topography for detection of keratoconus or other corneal conditions
- Pachymetry to measure corneal thickness to aid in the diagnosis of glaucoma
- Digital retinal photography
- Digital corneal photograpy
